venue. |
The 2006 Family Circle Cup crowned
Nadia Petrova
from Russia with her first Family Circle Cup title. The win moves
Nadia up to No. 5 in the world.
Nadia beat Sweden's, Patty Schnydr 6-3, 4-6, 6-1. Last year's
champion, Justine Henin-Hardenne, lost to Patty Schnydr in the semi-finals.
We are already looking forward to watching Nadia Petrova defend her title in
next year's Family Circle Cup event. |
The 2005 Family Circle Cup crowned Justine Henin-Hardenne
from Belgian. This is the second time Justine has won the tournament.
The last time was back in 2003. Justine is an amazing 11-0 on the Daniel Island Family Circle Cup courts.
It is obvious that Justine likes the green clay courts! Last year's
champion, Serena Williams was already coming off four long weeks of
tournament competition and appeared to be running on empty. Things were looking awfully bright for Justine
when she knocked off Lindsey Davenport in the semi-finals. The Family
Circle Cup Tennis Facility looks forward to Justine defending her
championship next year. Justine enjoy the 189K championship money and we will see
you here next year!

The 2004 Family Circle Cup crowned Serena Williams from the
United States . It was the first time in tournament
history that both Williams sisters entered the event. Serena came into
the event as the number two seed and Venus entered as the number four
seed. Justine Henin-Hardenne withdrew from the competition after
suffering low blood sugar and 2002 champion Jennifer Capriati came into the
event not playing her best tennis. |
